Apple Lineups 2021 August - iPhone

Updated: Aug 17, 2021

I will be explaining about each product in the current 2021 Lineups in Apple. This second one will be the iPhones. I will be giving a winner in each section. This is a slightly longer post, so I have put subtitles so you can jump to what you want to read about.

Budget. (One winner):

iPhone SE (Second Generation). £399: The iPhone SE features the A13 Bionic from the iPhone 11 in a more compact design. The design mimics an iPhone 8 but with black bezels on every model, unlike the 8. It is very powerful too. However, it does not have the battery to cope with the speed. This only has a 1821 mAh battery capacity. This is probably not enough for a whole day of heavy usage although, it is meant for other purposes.

iPhone XR. £499: The iPhone XR is not worth buying in this day and age. It has a 2942 mAh battery capacity and the A12 Bionic. However, at this price, it is better off buying something from the next series of products.

Winner: iPhone SE (Second Generation)

Mid-tier. (Two winners):

iPhone 11. £599: The iPhone 11, in my opinion, is very reasonably priced. It has a 3110 mAh battery, so it will last up to around 5 hours on a full charge. It has an A13 Bionic, which is an excellent chip even by today's standards, and 4GB of memory. I can recommend this phone, and it is much better value than the XR.

iPhone 12 Mini. £699: This is an iPhone 12 in a smaller design. It is a very good machine for people who want a small design but don't want a compromise on power and battery. However, the battery is less than the 12. It has a capacity of 2227 mAh. You can kill the battery in a day of heavy usage. However, it is still above average when it comes to good battery life. It has the full A14 Bionic that you get in all the iPhone 12 models. It also comes with 5G.

iPhone 12. £799: This is the iPhone 12 model you want if you want something that is not too expensive yet has a good battery and is not too small. It has a battery capacity of 2815 mAh. On a full charge, it should last around six and a half hours on everyday use. You again get the A14 Bionic and 4GB of memory.

Winner: iPhone 11

Winner: iPhone 12

Top-spec. (One winner):

iPhone 12 Pro. £999: The iPhone 12 Pro is the one that I do not recommend buying. This is because it is very similar to the iPhone 12. It has the same screen size, a similar camera, similar performance and the same amount of battery. The camera does come with another lens and a LiDAR sensor, but it does not make a huge difference. At £200 more than the regular iPhone 12, you're better off stepping up to the next one. The 12 Pro and the next model may seem similar, but there is a difference.

iPhone 12 Pro Max. £1099: The iPhone 12 Pro Max is the king of the iPhone models. It has a 3687 mAh battery which can last up to 8 hours on a full charge on normal usage. It has a 6.7' display and 6GB of memory. The 12 Pro also has 6GB of memory though, so what makes this £200 more expensive. This has a much better battery, a more prominent display, and it feels much more professional.

Winner: iPhone 12 Pro Max

To summarise Apple's iPhone Lineup, I would say that there are some very good phones here. The 12 Pro Max, The 11, The 12 and even the SE, there are some very competitive phones for their market. I am excited for the iPhone 13 or 12S models as I am likely to upgrade to one. Overall, a solid and consistent lineup.
